Paba’s hubby missing

The main suspect who allegedly assaulted UPFA MP and popular actress Upeksha Swarnamali is yet to be arrested by the Police.
Swarnamali who was hospitalised after being allegedly assaulted and injured by her husband Mahesh Chaaminda Walawegama, is stable and out of danger.
Swarnamali was rushed to the Sri Jayawardenapura hospital a few days ago after the incident.
Speaking to The Nation, Police Media Spokesperson SP Prishantha Jayakody said that when Swarnamali was admitted to the Sri Jayawardenapura hospital, officials from the hospital had informed the Jayawardenapura police. The Jayawardenapura Police informed the Mirihana Police station, who in turn recorded a statement from Swarnamali.
Walawegama has gone missing and failed to give a statement to the Mirihana Police following the assault on Swarnamali.
Speaking to The Nation, Acting Director Sri Jayawardenapura hospital
Dr S Gamage, said Swarnamali’s left eye was swollen. “She has a black eye but no other serious injuries. Swarnamali will be kept under observation for two more days. The swelling round the eye will go down within two to three weeks,”
Dr Gamage said.
Swarnamali well known for her role as “Paba,” contested from the UNP at the last general elections, and then crossed over to the UPFA later.
